About this Program

The Basic – Intermediate Cardiothoracic Surgical Skills Internship

The Basic – Intermediate Cardiothoracic Surgical Skills Internship (BI CSSSI) is a two-week highly interactive internship for High School and Pre-Med students to take the first steps towards mastering complex cardiothoracic surgery. Throughout this course, a strong emphasis will be placed on hands-on learning to master the following fundamental cardiothoracic surgical skills. Students will work in pairs with their own porcine heart models in the wet lab. Students will also receive clinical and anatomical lectures from AAMS surgeons and medical students.

Basic Program Fee Information:         

Cost: $ 6,995.00 USD

(Program cost does not include Housing, Minor or Transporation fees) 

The program fee includes two pairs of scrubs for each student. This fee also covers the use of surgical instruments, sutures, LVAD devices, aortic valves, porcine hearts, heart boxes, and other medical supplies to perform various surgical procedures.

2026 Housing cost to be announced



Housing Cost: Includes lodging, all meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), is provided for students at an additional cost which will be announced at a later date. Students will stay on campus and room with another intern of the same gender.



Minor Fee Information:                                 

You are considered a minor if you are not 18 years of age by the beginning date of the program.

Minors traveling alone will be supervised 24/7 by our resident advisors. 

This cost is an additional $995.00 per program
